My Old Man has knackered the screen on his Nikon Coolpix P50 so is looking for a replacement.

He doesn't want anything flashy, the one stipulation is that it needs to have a viewfinder though as he uses it in bad lighting conditions.

Budget around £100 - any suggestions?

As above. The only "compact" I can think of that has an optical viewfinder is the Fuji X100, hardly a compact, hardly £100.

There's the Canon A1200 that has a viewfinder, think that goes for about £70. Though it runs on AA batteries.

I stand corrected.

AA batteries aren't that bad, get a couple of Eneloops and they're just as viable as battery packs for most uses :)

Perfect, cheers :)

Pretty much what he had before, he's got a unit that charges 8 AA batteries at the time for his old camera so this is exactly what he's after, nice one.
