Which components reduce game load times?

I already have a decent spec pc i7 4790k/gtx 1080/16gb and ssd's but certain games GTA v take an age to load. How can these load times be reduced?

I have a Samsung 950 pro m.2 nvme drive I could use if that would reduce load times?

Absolutely. Any SSD will vastly improve any games load times.

Game load times can be a bit of an oddity all sorts of things can have an impact though SSD is usually the big one.

Yeah GTA v won't be hugely better on a SSD. I have run mine on both and it was still painful .

I currently run GTA V on 2 x 240 ssd in raid 0 but my nvme drive would be even faster if I whack it on there but it still seems slow!

I have watched it load on a PS4 though and I kid you not when it took 5 days!

some games just suck at loading, or go through a lot of content

rfactor based games the menues lag when you add a bunch of cars , and takes longer to start up, tracks dont effect it though.

but yeah ssd will help whatever game

Haven't checked it. Currently clocked at 4.6. It will go to 4.8 at acceptable heat levels but 4.6 is so much lower so that's where it stays.

As above I've had installed on both a mech HDD and SSD and saw no perceivable benefit of it being on an SSD. BF1 seems to be the same.

Define 'an age' for me.

GTA V single player takes about 30 seconds to load on my SSD, I think.

You cannot improve GTA V load times by buying hardware so I wouldn't recommend wasting your time or money.

A lot of it now is synchronization or server-side loading for most games.

Most games use large data files & SSD makes little to no difference on loading times for these vs 2TB 7,200 HD with 64mb cache. Only games which will see a massive benefit are games which have lots of little files to load.

maybe get and pci e m.2, but yes SSD is the key component, then cpu that actually process the data...and ram. but SSD is the best improvement you can do.

Most SSDs will improve game performance but some like GTA V and Star Citizen (particularly Crusader/PTU) tend to be server limited to a degree.

In that case you need that fancy 1Gbps fiber but I'd say its the server side that would throttle

I've tried GTA V on a 1Gbps connection (full 1Gbps with 1ms latency) and it's exactly the same as my poor 16Mbps home connection, GTA loading just sucks
