Which connection cable?

My mate has just given me a HP ZR30w whilst I source a new G-SYNC monitor. The only cable I've got to connect it with is a VGA cable.

I don't mind replacing it with something better whilst I wait but I've got no idea which is the best cable to connect a PC to a monitor. Can someone advise? For info, I've got the Titan X Pascal so it's capable of running on top spec.

Also, if I buy a Dell S2716DG will it come with an optimal connection cable? If so, I can look at buying a decent cable now in preparation.

According to the product page the HP ZR30w only has Display Port and DVI connections - no VGA? the Display Port would be the best.

The Dell S2716DG comes with a Display Port cable which is the best one to connect it with and seems to be a fairly decent quality cable as well.

Sorry for the stupid question but will my PC tower have a Display port connection or do I need to buy something else?

If you have the Titan X Pascal edition then you should have something like 3 Display Port, 1 HDMI and 1 DVI connector on the back of it - make sure you are plugging into the connections on the graphics card and not any onboard/integrated GPU connections if your system has it.

Yes, that looks about right. I have a DVI cable but I can't check whether it works because I can't switch the PC on in its current state. I've just unboxed it and there is a cable unconnected (CPU OPT) and the cooler fan feels unusually loose as if it's about to drop off or something! I'll have to call tomorrow for some tec support
