Got one of these cables to use with a 2nd build using an older PSU.

Guys any idea which connector i connect to the psu?....

Both connectors have different pins and amounts of cables so i assume there's a good reason.

The black one goes to the card, plug both the molex connectors into the psu. They should both have the yellow 12v rail connected to the black plug plus some black ground cables.

Thats it, wasnt sure if i needed to connect both, coz i swear someone asked before and i vaguely remember someone saying connecting both is wrong and can cause damage.

I'm assuming you guys have these cables or used them then?.......

All google is giving me is irrelevant stuff.

Any links would be cool... ;)

I've used them.
Generally these plugs and cables are designed in such a way that you can't plug the wrong things in and cause damage.

Connecting one molex is exactly the same as connecting two as they are connected to eachother anyway.

Yeah so why have 2?....... :S

Guessing so you can split the load between rails etc.....

Plugged them both in and booted up fine.

Running a 3200 venice @ 2.4 +0.025 vcore with an x1800xt on a FSP 250W psu, till the one i grabbed on MM arrives.

Not bad going for a 250W psu.... :D always have liked FSP psu's.

Thanx for all replies peeps.. ;)

Yeah, its to spilt the load.

Very encouraging to hear that its running happily off a 250w psu. Does it work ok under load?
Be sure to keep an eye on the 12v rail when running under load.

I know for a fact that a system running an E6800 and X1950 crossfire takes less than 400 watts at the wall and should in theory run off a 450w psu, even though people seem to have to buy 600-700w psus to get it to work. I always thought this was due to psus not having the right power in the right places, but clearly if you can run that off a 250w psu that suggests getting psus with tons of headroom is unnecessary after all.

Not had the chance to do much with it yet.

Once i get some games installed i'll see how it goes.

well ****** me :p
i have had one of these connectors on my conroe and his 1900 xtx rig for the past 2-3 weeks and have had only `ONE` of these connectors connected
am using a antec 550 true control psu with an adapter cable for the mobo too.
it has been running fine as well

so i should be using both molex then? :)
