ok guys which cpu gives you best bang per buck? i have an asrock mobo at the mo so no great overclocking? at first but i will over clock once i upgrade my mobo

I reckon the E6300....so cheap for such a great CPU :D - that said, the E6600 is a mighty performer for the money too......to think I paid more than this for an X2 3800+ only about a year back  how things change......

The only Conroe mentioned here is an E6600, The E6300 is an Allendale ;)

Sorry pedantic mood this morning :o I've got to tell 4 people at work they no longer have a job :(

Well they are a conroe effectively just had 2 of the 4meg cache disabled, i imagine the op didn't realize and thought they were all conroes.

6300 has best overclock from base.
but the 6600 has better L2 so I'd go for that.
also if you TOTALY fail to overclock, the 6600 will pwn anyway.
