Which Conroe

If you can afford it go for the XS.
It's multiplyer is unlocked so you can go for some crazy overclocking with it.
At stock it blasts anything else currently available out of the sky, so overclocked other things don't stand a chance.

The 6700 is a nice enough CPU although I debate if it is worth the extra £150 over the popular 6600.

to be honest I cant see the point even if it is multi unlocked, there are other ways to get just as high a cpu rating or GHtz value on decent boards

From the limited bit I have read there is more likely hood of anyone losing out by getting cheaper ram (I saw a figure of about 10% difference just by using 8000 ram over 5300, I think from anandtech but I couldnt swear on it)

edit I think I have spotted my own mistake , ie 800Mhz Ram modules/sticks instead of 533MHz sticks

can you tell me if this is good

1Gb XFX 7950GX2, PCI-E (x16), XXX, 1550 MHz, GPU 570 MHz, 48 Pipes, TV Out, 2 x Dual Link DVI-I
conroe mobo
XG Dragon Aluminum Gaming Case Black With X-Power 2 x Sli Pro 700 Watt
conroe
Asetek CPU/VGA/Chipset Xtreme kit 03-L-1317 KT12A/T 12V Dual X Radiators
Formac Gallery Xtreme 1900 19" TFT 8ms 800:1 (1280x1024) (DVI) Monitor
OCZ® Platinum Series 2GB DDR2 PC6400 800Mhz, Dual Channel Kit with Platinum Heatspreader

that looks good a few things

conroe mobo's are so new some are worth avoiding and some are too expensive according to preliminary reviews, so read up in the mobo section if I were you to see what suits you

I dont know of the XG brand, but I would personally go for a recognised maker like Tagan, OCZ and if personally I would choose something around 700w ( you may get away with a 600w with the GX2 )

from what i've seen... its a case of many of the XS processors are actually getting passed by the 6300s or 6400s.
probably just an odd batch or a few dud ones though... i doubt that would actually be the norm. otherwise everyone who's bought a 6800XS has truely been ripped off. :o
