Hi, i'm not sure what conroe to get for my next upgrade. I wont be overclocking the CPU so i just want it at the speed it comes with. How much real difference is there between the 6300/6400/6600 in terms of speed?

Thanks, Sainte

what do you actually use your computer for etc, specifically. e6600 might be overkill, taking advice from people who dont know what you're using the computer for and how is a bit silly

lots of gaming : what games, what graphics settings are must haves, more importantly, what resolution will you be playing? If its average gaming, i would have thought going for the cheaper 6300 would have been the best bet, and then investing the money saved in a better graphics card, or even a sparkly new gaming mouse or keyboard. Basically think about the price difference, and would that money be better used if it was invested in a different component or peripheral, hell if theres not going to be any real performance difference between the 6300 and 6600 in what you're playing your games at you could invest the money saved in even more games :D

probably very true mate. All my hardware is gaming focused when i get it... for example i use logitech g5 mouse and a stealpad5l mat etc. I just don't know whether all the extra cash for a 6300 > 6600 is justified. As i've played CS for years now i'm used to playing in low resolutions like 1024 x 768 and i use that reso for BF2 as well. What u reckon?

day to day useage you'll probably not notice much difference in windows/general use!
Gaming wise the faster CPU will give better performance (obviously) but the 6300 should be fine unless you're running a high end GPU.
6300 should have no issues at all running 3ghz certainly worth considering and its not a hard overclock.
