Which console. 7 year old

Hi Guys

I am way out of the console scene and I only PC game. My son is looking a console from the big man for Christmas.

My first reaction was yeah no problem ill get him an xbox but with the gamepass price rises I have now started looking at the Ps5 as well. Was thinking get a ps5 with a disc drive so he can play the ps4 games as well?

Games he would be playing

Minecraft
Roblox
Marvel games like spiderman etc

Which one should I get him?

PS5 is a better overall system, better build quality overall and honestly just a nicer overall system, alongside that the dual sense is infinitely better than the equivalent Xbox pad with better more integrated features.

If it was me for somebody of that age it would be a toss up between switch 2 and ps5

He already has a switch 1. Plays mario etc on that. sounds like Ps5 it is. Thanks

xbox as a console is pretty much dead now? as they started releasing exclusives cross platform.

The Spiderman games on PS5 are great but are rated 16, you might be fine with this but just an FYI.

My daughter plays Roblox and Minecraft mostly and I built her a PC. Her typing skills are amazing now. Loads of control with Microsoft Family as well.

+1 for a PC, even if it ends up connected to a TV and controller. It's not as living-room friendly as a PS5 but the versatility and upgradeability are hard to ignore.

Also, no personal judgement, but Roblox...

Maybe consider a Steam Deck or Xbox Ally if they enjoy the Switch. You have the best of both worlds then. Portability and PC gaming. Then you have access to mods for Minecraft and that opens up a whole new world.

Mine likes the Xbox and just plays whatever is on gamepass. Never had to buy a game for it in ages.

I'm thinking of doing this we are rocking two series s in our playroom but the increased cost of gamepass has annoyed me
