Anyone else own multi different gaming consoles or a gaming console & gaming PC and suffer the problem of having to choose which system to buy some the games for

Like right now i want to buy the new sonic game but really can't make my mind up if i should buy it for the PC, the Xbox or PS5 :(

I have a PC and PS5, mostly buy games for the PS5. What I can't get on there I buy for PC, and some games I just prefer on the PC (e.g. Hitman) as that's where I started playing the previous ones in the series.

I've been working from home a lot more over the past year or so and have found myself far less willing to sit at that same desk after work to spend time on my PC for gaming.

If I'm not sure on a game. I'll get it on console for resale value.

As TheVoice above since working from home I've struggled to spend more time at my desk so less pc. I tried moving my pc downstairs. But I just kept forgetting about it.

However I've now got a steamdeck which has flipped this round.

So elden ring I have on Xbox but I will rebuy on pc as I play mostly on the deck now. Ps5 went the journey as it was dust collecting. Considering the gaming rig going next.

Third party games I usually buy for Xbox Series X ( if they aren't on Game Pass, and unlikely to be in the future ). An exception to this would be if I learn that a game has been developed with backing from Sony, but isn't necessarily a PS5 exclusive, or has additional support for dualsense controller features. An example of this would be Callisto Protocol. I barely buy anything on PC these days as I much prefer gaming sitting on my couch and viewing on my large 4k OLED.

I have a PS5, XSX and a gaming laptop.

Generally my purchase decisions are like so:

Gaming laptop - only used if I double dip on a CoD release.

XSX - Used for any day 1 exclusives on Gamepass, games on Gamepass that I would need to buy on PS5 (IE the Ascent), paid exclusives and titles on sale that are not on sale for PS5 (or are cheaper).

PS5 - Used for exclusives of which there tends to be more than on XSX. I also buy CoD on PS5 these days as it just seems to have a solid player base with crossplay turned off and I don’t tend to struggle getting matches. I have the enhanced PS+ subscription this year also and so I’m making use of that too.

I should note that I am completely digital, so console game resales is not a factor for me.

Overall, I’m using my PS5 the most in this generation.

As an aside, having to choose between 3 platforms is a nice problem to have. I’d say go with whatever platform you prefer overall, or where the best deal is, or in the case of multiplayer games the platform your friends use (if you don’t want to / can’t use crossplay).

I've got a PS5 and a Series X, and the Xbox hardly gets a look-in unless there's something on GamePass. Had the XSX on for an hour or so last week playing High on Life and that's the first time it's been on since the second week of October. I picked up NFS Unbound a couple of weeks ago and asked for the Xbox version and ended up switching to the PS5 just as the girl was about to scan it in Game.

Told myself that I'd alternate which console I buy multi-plat's on but I just feel the PS5 is a much more enjoyable console.

Mostly buy ps5 as its there exclusives I get, my pc/xbox is game pass.

I will sometimes buy dlc on pc e.g. Village dlc

Some games however I prefer on pc regardless anything rts as controls best

I have a good PC, Series X and Switch. 90% of my purchases are on Switch as it just fits in with my lifestyle, unless it's a graphically intensive title then it's Xbox. PC hardly gets a look in anymore as couch gaming and portability rule.

Depends on the game, game pass and sales really.

Multiplayer like COD is normally PS5 because my mates pretty much only have the PS5 and of course the Sony 1st party games.

XSX for most game pass stuff or Forza (basically something I'd prefer to sit back in a big screen with a controller.)

Gaming laptop for anything I'd prefer to play with a mouse or PC exclusives, I've only just got the gaming laptop so I did have the new Monkey Island on the XSX (included with game pass) but I instantly downloaded it again when I got the gaming laptop, to my surprise the save came over and it just felt right with a mouse. Anything not game pass is normally a fair bit cheaper in Steam sales etc also.

Tbh unless it's a ps5 exclusive or a must play mp games with friends I will likely be looking at getting most on my laptop once I have a decent monitor and the XSX might start to really gather dust (it kind of is already)

For most MP games I get them on PS5 as I have more friends on there to play them with.
For any multi platform games I just go with whichever version Boomerang send me first :D

Tend to buy multiplats on Xbox. PS5 is for exclusives or games on sale via PSN store that are cheaper than other platforms.

PC over all. Especially since getting a long HDMI cable meaning there is no incentive to buy on console any more as I'll use ps5 controller from couch.

Edit. Unless a game was reviewed to make great use of haptics in which case I'd reconsider but barely any have.

I generally buy games on PS5. Though if its an MMO type of game then its PC.

It's mainly based on which friends I'm playing with. Some friends only have a pc, while others only have a console.

Multi Player (FPS Mainly) - Xbox Series X, I much prefer the controller for multiplayer FPS
Single Player - PS5, Dual Sense is fantastic when implemented properly, the last of us remaster for example, it adds so much to the experience

If it takes advantage of the DualSense like Hogwarts will, then I’ll get it on the PS5.

Anything third party gets bought on Steam so it’s an option for the Steam Deck.

Don’t buy anything on the Series X due to GPU.

Switch is primarily for Nintendo exclusives at this point.

PC
PS5
Switch

I buy games on the PC because I can play them at the PC or using a PS5 controller on the TV whilst sat on the sofa... Best of both worlds. Generally PC has better graphics plus mod support so will last longer... Steam games will still be on Steam in 10 years, PS5 games maybe lost when the PS6 is out. I like having a large library of games which in theory I can replay even 20+ years down the line.

I have PS Plus for the PS5 so can play the exclusives and I prefer fighting games on PS5 because it's easier when friends are around. Also the online aspect of fighting games is pretty dead on PC

Switch has CFW so we won't go there :D
Although, Switch games are far better on PC than the actual console so my daughter makes a lot more use of the Switch then I ever did.

I've really moved away from gaming on PC and much prefer the comfort of the lounge. I'll buy whichever version performs better on the PS5 or SX; usually wait for the DF tech analysis.

I have PS5. PC and Series S and buy all my games for PS5. The PC is used for free games from Epic, Amazon etc and the Series S was used for playing Halo on Gamepass Ultimate but doesnt get used now.

I have PS5. PC and Series S and buy all my games for PS5. +1

Pretty much my setup. My PC is 7 years so not really capable of running anything other than older games and indie titles. Xbox I only bought for exclusives and game pass. I also have a switch though again it’s only used for Nintendo exclusives.

Interesting that most folks on here are PS5 by default when they own multiple systems!

I am a bit bias as I have owned every PlayStation but for me I find it’s the most accessible console. Until I got my LG tv it was not only my games console but my media player. I prefer the Sony console, interface and ecosystem and it has almost all of the games I want to play.

I bought a switch a while back to play a couple of Zelda games and that was it and I ended up selling it on.

I could probably flog on my Series S but I got it second hand and not really worth my time.
