Which console (prepare for fanbois)

I'm a PC gamer, always have been, always will be. I have both the Xbox 360 and PS3. I have played the 360 more but only because I have had it longer.

Anyway, due to the nature of games I think I would like to stick to PS4 for the next console.

My main focus is games, mostly JRPG games as my self and my girlfriend love games like that.

Anyway, I'm addicted to better graphics, hence why PC is my home run for any games that are out on all 3 platforms. Without a doubt. Next gen (no matter which way you cut it) is not going to give better graphics than a decent spec PC (mine is decent spec...). See this for an example, only a few weeks ago we were told next gen graphics are better than PC by marketing plonkers: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/d...b-raider-definitive-edition-next-gen-face-off

SO! Before you tell me to sell my PC and buy both consoles because of the graphics debate, don't please :)

I'm in it for story driven games, RPG's, single player. I'm not hot on multiplayer, I have a few games I dabble in on the PC but don't spend much time at all in MP. So SP story driven games is where I'm happy.

The only down side to the PS4 that I can tell is my hands are certainly built for the Xbox controller. I use it to play most of my PC games with (before you fanbois slate, I play with both kb/m and controller, I stream to my 50" plasma for when I want to sit back and chill with a controller).

I still can't get on with the PS3 controller.

Media wise... Blu Ray playback would be nice, other than that... My PC streams everything I need.

So, which one and why?

I'd honestly say wait until more games come out that interest you or that you would enjoy, especially if you like RPG's as neither have any at the moment as far as I am aware. If you want purely story driven games and not too concerned whether it's an rpg or not then my advice is still wait... Infamous comes out in the next few months but then just for one game that's a pretty expensive purchase, as I wouldn't really recommend it's (the PS4) other exclusives to be good story driven games imo.

Cannot comment on X1 too much as I do not own one but I feel from looking at the games they may not be what you're looking for either. Maybe Ryse might but again, console purchase for one game at the moment is pricey imo. Quantum Break looks like it might be a good story driven game but I don't think it has a release date yet?

I find the PS4 pad much better than the PS3's but only you can judge if it's better or not so if you know someone who has got one then all I can say is try it out?

Both have blu-ray playback, if 3D is a concern I don't think either console has 3D playback yet? Someone correct me if wrong.

So my advice is to wait. Sorry if that's not the answer you were looking for, but I don't think either console currently has what you want yet. I mean both consoles are getting FF15 but that's pretty far off into the future.
And if it was for what console to purchase in the future and not now, then no idea. Wait till after E3 when more games will be announced.

didn't you decide on a ps4 a while back? anyhow. the ds4 controller is miles better then the ds3.

I'd stick with your pc gaming rig for now as I know you are a big pc gamer, and look into the ps4 end of the next few months see where its all at.

I still think owning a Sony machine and a pc is going to provide the best overall experience towards the vast majority of games you can play. it rang true owning a capable gaming rig and a ps3, which I think is still true with a pc and a ps4.

however some pc gamers have admitted that some games on the ps4 have given their pc gaming rigs a good run for its money. AC black flag and tomb raider being the notable ones just lately.

You can't really compare the DS4 and DS3. I had no problems with the DS3 - in fact I quite liked it - but I can't use it now post DS4. DS4 is the best controller made to date IMO.

In your position I would opt for the PS4. More likely to get JRPGs exclusive to Sony.

However as others have said it may be best to wait a while and see what other games are released.

Entertainment wise they both offer the same things so just really boils down the controller preference and game library.

Both of these reasons is enough for me to wait. Some very good points. I will come back and ask the same question towards the end of summer then :) As for now, a few games are on the way to PC that will keep me entertained :)

The PS4 controller is in a completely different league to the PS3 controller and even the 360 controller and I only use 360 controller on PC.

Honestly? Neither at the moment. I don't think either are worth it yet. I have a One and while I've enjoyed it, I wouldn't recommend it yet until it has a lot more features and a few more big titles. Same goes for the PS4.

PS4 without a doubt.. some of the best single player games on the last generation were PS3 exclusives and that's set to continue with the PS4.

Don't worry about the PS4 pad, it is a lot better than the PS3 and I actually prefer it over the Xbox now.. some people have had problems with the rubber coming off the thumb stick but I've yet to have a problem. Having said that I'm now on my 5th Xbone controller all of which have had faulty thumb sticks so I'm getting pretty fed up with that :(

You say you're addicted to better graphics, although neither will compete with a decent PC the PS4 is proving to be much better than the Xbone so you may as well get the best out of 2 anyway.

Wait til (at least) E3, though I feel bad not advising you to also consider the Wii U considering your requirements (potentially graphics aside). Instead of/as well - well thats up to you...

ps3ud0

If you have a killer PC and aren't down for multiplayer (online at least) then I'd seriously consider the Wii U. I haven't had so much fun with a console in absolutely ages, and as you said most of the biggest games will be coming to your far superior PC anyway.

:edit: ah didn't see the bit about specifically wanting JRPGs. Take a look at the new Xenoblade game coming to Wii U, no idea when it'll be out but it might tickle your fancy.

This is the game I am waiting for before I get a Wii U, so much want xD

And Monster Hunters.

Gaming PC + Wii U is easily the best option.
