I am competely bamboozled by the amount of phone tarriffs and contracts out there and dont know what to go for.

I am currently on Orange and pay about £35/month.

I would like to get this lower if possible. I dont send lots of txts, but some free ones would be advantageous.

I also dont make massive amounts of calls, but when I do they are to many networks.

I use my phone mostly between 2pm and 9pm.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Well...assuming you had no problems with Orange in terms of network availability then I would suggest 3 :)

I've not actually joined them yet but people who are with them seem to have no problems and the contracts are quite cheap:

If you want a contract for longer than 18 months then the £15 a month deal with 500 anytime, any network minutes might be worth looking into.

If 18 months is long enough then why not bag a bargain with the £17.50 half price deal:

# 750 anytime, any network minutes
# 150 texts
# 50 UK Video Minutes anytime, any network
# 50 UK photo or video messages
# £5 Free downloads

Certain handsets are half price for the whole 18 months! Not to mention that you'll get free MSN for the life of the contract as well :)

If you do decide on 3 then don't forget to...

Quidco - £100 cashback
Recommend a friend - both get £30

Therefore:

£17.50 * 18 = £315
£315 - £100 - £30 = £185
£185 / 18 = £10.28 per month :)

Well, just my 2p worth...

Thanks for the advice Beatmaster, unfortunately the phone I would like (w880i) is not available on the 3 network.

Ah not to worry, afraid I can't suggest anything else but I'm sure someone else will :)

I pay around £26.50 a month for mine (12 months at £20, 6 at £40) 500 mins, 1000 texts. All any time, any network. On vodafone, free D900, insured.
Great, I can't remember what site I got it off but I deal with vodafone directly in store and pay direct debit.

Could go in the shop instead? :)

Errrr if you have ANY experirence with 3 you would know shops can't enter into your account etc. you need to phone customer services which is all based in india. they still owe me £84 from 9 months ago

How many mins and texts would you use a month? From your initial post it seems that you are paying more than you really need to be and a cheaper contract may be the way to go.

If your not bothered about having the latest handset then you may as well go pre-pay as the rates are similar to contracts at your spending levels.
