Which cooler? 3570k Overclock

Hi,

For a overclocked 3570k which cooler should i be looking at getting.

Many Thanks guys, is water worth it or is air cooled a lot cheaper

I have the 3770K under water.

The TIM under the IHS is so poor water is a waste.

A decent air cooler will deliver a good result.

Matterhorn & True Spirit 140 are both very good at £30

Thermalright HR-02 about same cooling and very quiet for £35

The Phanteks is the more powerful cooler but noisier than the Dark Rock Pro 2. You pays your money, you makes your choice...

Specs I've seen say 33.9 vs 33.6 idle and 47.7 vs 43.3 at full speed.
Sound clips of a bunch of coolers including Phanteks PH-TC14PE and Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 idle and full speed. Listen and judge for yourself. My guess is Phanteks at same temperature is as quiet or quieter.

The bar graph in your link is linear. dBA tranlated to loudness is not linear. Sound listening level (dBA) is logarithmic. It doubles how loud it sound to us every 10 dBA
10dBA is normal breathing
20dBA is a whisper
30dBA is a bedroom
40dBA is quiet library volume.
50dBA is average home or gentle rain volume.
60dBA is normal conversation
70dBA is you hoover.
80dBA is busy city street
90dBA is petrol lawn mower, weed eater
100dBA is a rock music concert
