Hello guys I am going to up grade my gpu for a cf/sli setup something like dual 7950 or dual 770.

May main question is never having a blower style cooler on a gpu would it be better for cf/sli instead of a dual/triple fan cooler especially because of there being 2 cards.

Cheers for the help

AMD reference style coolers should be avoided if you value a silent gaming system. If you do decide to go with a 7950 CF rig get at least one HIS IceQ blower edition as your top card.

If you decide to go Nvidia then any reference types are very quiet.

What resolution are you planning to use and how long is your GPU upgrade cycle?

If you use hi res and only upgrade every 2+ years I would go with a CF 7950 over SLI 770. It will give better future proofing in the long run due to the extra VRAM and higher bus width.

At the moment I game @ 1080p but was looking to change to a 3 monitor setup thus the change to cf/sli and I normally upgrade every 2 years

Water blocks lol.

IF your pci-e spacing is sufficient, then you could look at getting a couple of aftermarket coolers such as Acceleros which will keep the gpu's cool as well as very quiet.

Ideally you would want 1 of the cards to he a blower though i would say since you dont want hot air pushed out inside gour case unless you have adequate means of getting it out of there, such as a side fan for extraction etc.

It is definitely something to consider as modern gpu's do put out a lot of heat and you have to try get some of that out of the case somehow.
