which core2 board for atleast 440fsb?

dis-advantage is that you can not set downwards mutlipliers, also iirc doesn't support Sli, the onboard wifi is pretty rubbish (if you would use this), the Jmicron controller is awefull and a lot of people have had problems with the dvdrw/cdrw drives when having it installed (i too had this problem, un-installed the jmicron and let windows configure my drive and all is fine now)! other than these things i really love the board and can't say that i'm experiencing any problems with the board at the minute! i would highly adise it for overclocking

Looks pretty good to me. Is the DS4 much different? Presumably a slightly lower FSB, but anything better about it compared to the P5B-D?

Is FSB much more important than the speed difference between the 965 and 975 chipset? So roughly how much extra FSB do you need on a 965 to make up for the speed difference between the chipsets?

Basically you had a duff board. This does not mean they are all the same.

The Bios is stable and solid. 450+ FSB. No Vdroop. No issues with my G Skill HZ @ 4-4-4-12

so your board doesnt require SPD timings @ over 360 FSB?
also doesn't do double restarts over 400 fsb? used to be 300 now 400 after bios updated to 304.
And doesnt put about 10 bars extra onto your loading time
with onboard sound card drivers?

my board can also do 430 but limited only because my ram SPD
that doesnt make it a great board until the litttle things are fixed.

1. No SPD timings
2. not that I know
3. Dont use on board sound.
4. I can do 450+ with 4-4-4-12

Perhaps its operator error ;) ??

defently not operator error :D

when i choose 400 fsb then set memory timings to manual ie 4.4.4.12
it wont boot, but if i choose spd timings enabled it will boot
this feature is also on the p5w.

the geil memory is the same chips that are on your gskill
just programmed diffrent.

maybe it just cant do 4.4.4.12 @ 800MHz ( if you have 1:1 ration or x2 multi )
exactly what ram chip/model is it you got

the cpu will do 420 + fsb no probs

the memory will do 430 fsb @ 4.4.4.12 @ 2.2 volts ddr (800)
3.4.4.8 @ 2.1 volts ddr (667)
3.3.3.8 @ 1.95 volts ddr(533)

tested the above, by running cpu at default 266 and also at 300

but if try to boot over 350 FSB it wants SPD timings

ah found another guy with the excact same problem
and its solved, this could be good news for people with asus 975 boards
that has this problem.

more later on

I had a P5B and it topped out at 504x8 and did 475x8 stable all with mem at 1:1 4-4-4-4, not a SPD in sight. Team Xtreme ram.

Another vote for P5B, I have the WS pro verion and there is nothing I cannot throw at it.
