Which Counterstrike?

Not interested in pub play.

Will be LAN/friends only.

Is it as simple as "CS:GO" is better or is there more to it than that?

I have been playing 1.6 and CZ recently and enjoyed them both.

Maybe just me, but CS:GO seems to have become bloated, but maybe that is just me.
 
Depends what the reasoning is. I will say install half life 1 then play CS Beta 7 files.
Its a free mod and half life is very cheap to buy for 8 machines or whatever.

Its all commercialised now but CSGO is the choice if you have 1 machine and in very little time you want a game vs 9 other equally skilled players.
This latest version is easiest to use for that purpose

There's something so smooth and appealing about the original CS, it's what I moved to after AQ2 (Which I still miss).

It doesn't need the updated graphics, gameplay all the way :)

Beta 5.2 ;)

1.6 though to be honest, then skin the hell out of it. Source is fine also if you're just pratting about with mates to be honest

I hated it at first, but you soon adjust and become more effective in-game. Spraying is still possible, it's just not as reliable/BS as it used to be :p

I remember playing cs 1.5, good times!

Also the days of sitting in IRC trying to find games "5v5, med skill, your serv" :D
 
when was CS released? I'm sure I was playing it when I was 18 which would have been 20 years ago (1996) but the earliest I can see is beta 1 released in 1999 - was it available as a 0.1/0.2 beta before beta 1 came out or am I simply imagining things and senility is finally kicking in?
 
GO or 1.6. Just pick all of them up and give them a go? They cost pennies these days.

But back in 03/04 I used to LAN 1.6 with my friends (them days :( ).
