i might do but whats a good mobo gonna set me back also good ddr2? just been checking price on
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 775, 2.13 GHz, 1066MHz FSB, Allendale Core, 2MB Cache, £152.74. how would that compare to 3800 X2?

Quite frankly it would spank it.

If you're buying a new motherboard and CPU then Core Duo is the clear winner at the moment. But don't rule out the AMD64s if you're prepared to buy seond hand kit - you can get some serious bargains right now.

Oh man look what u guys made me do!!!

I WANT CORE 2DUO E6600 now but ram is the thing thats gonna hold me back
I want ram that can do 1066FSB or higher for OC.

I dont understand how DDR2 works can some one explain please?

do i need ddr2 8500 to sync with 1066?

Oh i like nvidia and will have a geforce card but dont need SLi for now which is a good mobo it dont really have to be nforce.

The main reason stopping me from switching from socket 939 to core 2 duo was having to get new RAM, but i got lucky and managed to get 1Gb Geil DDR2 667 for the bargaintastic price of £12.50 per 512Mb stick :D

After that i flogged my socket 939 stiff and it just covered the cost of the cpu and mobo :)

Yeah it was from a shop that sells used PC stuff. I knew it was good stuff as i sold it to them a few months before. The box had a £25 price sticker on it. But if they'd read the sticker properly they'd have seen it said £25 per stick :D

I was quite prepared to pay £25 per stick as well, as even that was a bargain.

Going back at the weekend to see if they have anymore ;)

Well im running DDR2 667, and running my CPU with a FSB of 325, im running the RAM at 650, so its 1:1. If i take the cpu any higher im going have to run the ram on a divider.

so ddr2 667 is pc2 5300 which should be used for stock 9*266? 1.1

so if i wanna push little higher i should get pc2 6400?

or would the pc2 5300 take me to 2.6 1.1?

forgive me for n00b questions aint uptodate with new cpu and ram. I know my ddr1 lol

Should do mate. If you run a divider then you can go higher with PC5300, but if you can afford it you mite as well get the PC6400

so you over clocked your ram to get 2.6? (pc2 5300) 1.1

me little information hungry as i was thinkin of spending £200 for upgrade now spending double that Lol hopefully i'll have little studen loan left

ok me starting to get this lol

can i get 2.6 with stock cooler or is that not recommended?
also would i need to increase vcore?

I think pc2 5300 will be enough . dont have much money, gonna start lookin for a used 7800GT

Yep im still on the stock cooler for now and stock volts.

I will be changing mobos again shortly so i can overclock furthur so will get a better cooler then
