Which CPU and MB combo: 4670k vs. 4770K

This is kind of cross posting, sorry about that, but it is a different question to the one I asked in my other thread. Although I asked the question there it's buried under a different discussion.

Basically I'm trying to decide how to spread out the ~£340 I have for the CPU and MB in my new build.

The choices seem to be either: a 4670K and an MSI GD65 MB, or a 4770K and a ASRock Extreme3 MB (or a similar priced MB)

What I need advice on is whether it's better to have a slightly weaker CPU but a MB that can get the most out of it. Or have a better CPU but a MB that isn't as good.

Advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Better off with a decent CPU, average motherboard IMO - not saying its what you should do or its the best option for the money but if it was me buying at around that budget I'd be pairing a 4770K with a gigabyte 87-UD3 series board.

With Intel it doesn't really matter. You can get away with the cheapest board that has the features you need. If you're looking to overclock you might want to look at the power delivery.

It's only really an issue with AM3+ boards, because the FX83-- series and above use significant amounts of juice, you need a motherboard that can handle it - even at stock.

I would say that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

However when not being a wise arse and a realist i would say as long as you buy a respectable motherboard then i would favour going for the better cpu
