Which CPU should I go for for say 90-120 pounds budget? I would prefer an AMD x2 but open to Intel if I can get more power/multitask goodness. Its for a shuttle I will be buying - which hopefully will run quietly.

Cheers guys:)

ps Well the X2 4200 is in my budget, is the Intel equiv (pricewise) better? And will it run cool enough for an SFF?

6300, you'd be loosing out if you bought an X2

Sure CPU will be in budget but doesnt take into account the motherboard (critical factor in overclocking), and the ram. Asrock Vsta is cheap and can reuse DDR and upgrade to DDR2 when ready (£40 I believe). The cheapest DDR2 solution is the Asus P5n-e sli at £70ish plus some DDR2 which starts at £130 for 2 x 1Gb.

shame hes already stated hes getting a shuttle.
So he can get whichever platform is relevant.
Its a shuttle solution, its just decided on by whichever cpu us lot tell him to get.
4300, you're going to overclock a C2D, its the law. Sure shutle boards wont like too high an FSB! so id say 4300!

I thought shuttles were banned! on overclockers? I like a quiet box but having to worry about the length of a graphics card is not my bag. Yes I saw it was a shuttle second time reading but cbb to edit.

You guys sadly have convinced me to drop AMD:( I'll be going for a E6300 or E4300:)

Cheers for all the advice!
