Which cpu be best

My god thats a big difference, is that pretty much going to be across the board on the gaming front

If its faster in all of those it will be faster in bf2.
Do you have 2gb of ram? It makes a massive difference compared to 1.

Not yet i know thats holding my bf2 game back, was going to buy another 1 gig ddr2 ram but debating if to sell the P4/mobo/ram and start again with amd

Can somone confirm this is it normal for cpu temp to drop when you overclock ?, just put my 3.4 prescott too 3.6 and the temps dropped by 5c

A64, Especially for gaming...64bit v 32bit. We all know who wins there :)
It has nothing do with the fact that the A64 is a 64 bit capable processor.
All those bechmarks are 32 bit software on a 32 bit os running in 32 bit mode on a 32 bit processor.
I don't like the way that 64bit is becoming a marketing tool to explain the superior performance of A64. Very few A64s run in 64 bit mode, and the performance increase of running games such a farcry with the 64 bit patch is zero.

The reason its faster is because it has a higher ipc.

Been looking at that 2.66 dual core smithield, now i realize toms hardware getting it so high is probs rubbish, i was wondering what realistic overclock would you think is possible.

Currently on the 3.4 as the title says, could i expect to get anwywhere near that speed and would it give me a boost.

OT - Jabbs check the other threads on the 805 - most people have the 05A type which usally clocks to 3.6-3.8 but if your luckly enought to find a 05B type (same price but higher voltage spec) 4.0 oc's are a possability. - OT

Most people can reach 3.7 stable on air with a good motherboard. Just search "805d" in these forums and you will see plently of threads.
