Which CPU Cooler for a healthy O/C ??

FX8350 . 990FX Sabertooth .

At the moment I have a Thermaltake Frio OCK.....its a bit too loud to cool 4.6GHz and over , so sat at 4.5GHz on lowest fan speed.

Space is not an issue as I have a Haf 932.

Choices so far are..

Air - Noctua Nh d14.
Liquid - Swiftech H220.
Liquid - Corsair H110.

I am open to suggestions but it will have to be pretty quiet...

Thanks..

Revo. :D

Personally I wouldn't get an NH-D14 just because of the aesthetics. The Phanteks PH-TC14PE and Thermalright Silver Arrow offer comparable performance with better looks.

Of the coolers there I'd say that the H220 is best, but it is substantially more expensive than the others. Unless you're going for an insane overclock you're probably best saving your money and going with a big air cooler.

EDIT: Just noticed how expensive the PH-TC14PE is here. I got mine recently for substantially less.

I have an H80i and I have fitted 2 x SP120's to it In push pull mode ( mainly as i wanted the red rings ) the sound on the std fans was fine ..... They work very well ... I'm sure with the larger radiator that the 110 has you could run 4 x SP120's on it and keep the temps down with a good OC.

I have the kraken x60 with akasa fans x4 push/pull

No issues running 4.8ghz, temps are very nice and it looks sweet :D

The swiftech h220 is meant to be the best none custom cooling solution you can buy, seen it beat h110s by a few degrees even though it is smaller. Also stick these fans on and it should be very quiet toohttp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-017-CS&groupid=701&catid=2331

Swiftech H220 from your list. Expandable for future-proofing and built to last.

Best cost : performance is Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme because of the high cfm/speed/noise fans but if you use it at normal fan speed it's as quiet as normal SA SB-E. Better performance than most if not all CLC coolers and no pump to fail.

Phanteks PH-TC14PE, NH-D14, K2, BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 2 are all very good.

TC14PE, D14, K2 with high cfm fans perform about same as SA SB-E Extreme.

Corsair H series in last year or so have not had a good track record. Lots of pump problems and see a pump failure every week on forums.. now H80i pumps have started failing after about 4-5months. If you go this route I suggest having another cooler on hand so you can keep using system if it has a problem.

The H220 looks awesome, that would be my choice.

I have the D14 myself and it's a brilliant cooler, for under £60 (sometimes it is, i promise) it's a great value cooler.. :)

H220 looks to be a great system. But it is brand new so expect some teething problems.. and it is water so there will be maintenance.

Air coolers cool just as well, are cheaper, almost always quieter, simpler (only fans to go bad) and require virtually no maintenance (occasional fan and TIM)

Phanteks PH-TC14PE currently in my PC keeps the 8350 @ 4.6GHz within temperature spec and is quiet almost silent at normal day to day use. Is quite audible but not unbearable on Prime.

Going to go custom wc loop though just for more space in the case.
