Hey all,

Which CPU cooler would you recommend to use in a push&pull configuration with 2 Noctua fans (NF-P12)?
I do plan to overclock; I don't know how extreme, but, I indeed plan to. :p

I know they don't excel CFM-wise, but after reading tons of reviews, I like them the best! :D
Having said that, I know they won't perform well with dense-fins cooler, am I right?

Any personal experience?

CPU: E8400 || Mobo: GA-EP43-DS3L || Case: Antec 300

Cheers! :)

Scythe Ninja has very sparse fins, so is particularly suited for low airflow fans.

I've got a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme running (almost) passively on my overclocked Opteron and works well. Just a 5V Yate Loon that I turn on occasionally.

Totally agree with p4radox.

Had the ultra 120 extreme (good but generally needs higher cfm fans) and the scythe ninja (very good with low cfm fans).

Noctua's own heatsinks are good too from what i hear. Plus they'll be designed with their low cfm fans in mind! :)

I'd personally go with the scythe as i got such good results with it using two of their own 800rpm fans with it. Silent yet effective.

Based on what i saw with it cooling a hot running q6600 rev B3 @ 3ghz it should happily cool your e8400 up to 3.8ghz and probably even around 4ghz.

I'd too go for Noctua's own heat-sinks, but for some strange reason, no store stocks them here. I've contacted many of them and was answered that their heat-sinks are technologocially "obsolete". :confused:

@gt_junkie:

Can you tell what the temps with Scythe Ninja were like?

Also, if I were to take TRUE, which fans would you recommend, that will be as close as possible to Noctua's silence?

And: What about Thermalright HR-01 Plus? I've read it's very good with low-airflow.

Whoops, thought I pressed Edit and not reply.

I think I'll go for Xigmatek'sHDT-S1283. It gets great reviews.

What do you all think?
