Guys

I am looking for a good CPU Cooler for a Intel Core 2 DUO E6700, the mother board will be ASUS though not sure which model yet. Case Antec P-180

Now I am looking at these two models and would like some feedback
Zalman CNPS9700-LED Aero Flower (Socket AM2/939/754/775) CPU Cooler

Or

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
HS-017-AR_200.jpg

Looking at the pricing of these two models I would think that the Zalmal is the better model larger fan more expensive though so many people seem to use the Artic Collong model. Help

Also do they both come with heat paste

Hi

I've used the Zalman CNPS9700-LED in quite a few builds and I've been impressed with them.
I've not used the AC7 but it gets very good reviews on here and I am tempted to use one on my C2 Duo when I get around to building one.

Guys the Zalman is on offer this week with OC coul do with another couple of replys to this post before I order it

Many Thanks

I'd get a Tuniq Tower, Thermalright Ultra 120 or a Scythe Ninja. That way you'd be able experiment with your own fans to get the lowest noise level.

Zalman do make gorgeous coolers, but the fans aren't *the* quietest, despite being pretty quiet. :)

Agreed. Zalman is a good cooler but can get noisy at higher speeds. So does Tuniq, but you can swap the fan out on that, as well as on the others mentioned. Vanessa L is also worth a look.

There's a fan in the middle. You don't need 2 fans on it anyway - it'd just add to the noise. :)

A fan in the middle?

I think you're talking about the zalman..? lol

I dunno, I'd like to experiment with two fans on half-speed vs one fan on full speed on the tuniq. Or even the temp difference with one fan on full speed vs two fans on full speed :D I like experiments. Could try fan->heatsink->fan arrangement and a fan->heatsink<-fan arrangement, I wonder if there'd be much benefit...

I gotta get myself one of them tuniqs, it can keep me amused while I wait for support tickets to help sort out my other problems... lol

Tuniq tower is probably the best air cooler money can buy. If I was to go air cooling that would be the cooler I would choose.

The coolers the OP mentioned are also very good in there own right and nothing will beat the AC7 for value. If cost is an issue then the AC7 is a great buy.

Oh right! I thought that it was a fan that clips onto the side of it in a similar way to the ACF7!

Now I understand... I presumed those photos were just without the fan attached.

:o

And Carlsberg is probably the best lager in the world :p (nah the Tuniq seems to be doing the business by all accounts, never used one so cant be sure, bit big though!).

Yes it will, an empty can of coca-cola will probably cool better than the AC7, its the pits (well at least the ones I used anyway!). They are the most over-rated piece of hardware out at the moment, come back the AERO 7 Lite all is forgiven :o

Wayne!!!

Have you tried another cooler yet? It could just be your chip!

I agree that they're not great, but for the money they're the best in that price range. I wouldn't say my ACF7 is crud, it's worked very well for a lot of people. Just unfortunately me and you both have a hot chip and a not great cooler - we could even have faulty ones if it's not the chip at fault. But neither of us can tell 'till we get a better cooler. Even if it is the cooler that's faulty, like I say, most of the ACF7's work wonderfully for people :p

Definately take the essence of what Big.Wayne's saying into mind, but bear in mind he's had a bad experience with them ;) IMO, spend more, get more (e.g. scythe ninja or tuniq tower)

Thats a load of rubbish :p

Either you have got a bad one or you need to lap your IHS/cooler. You installed the Thermalright yet?

Thats with a 120mm akasa Amber fitted, at 1040 rpm (probably ~35cfm) so equiv to the stock fan at about 1600rpm.

Another vote here for the Zalman. Just becuase i own one lol. Very very nice cooler, good build - and it sounds weird but it feels nice ( yeah im crazy ). And if it can handle my CPU upto just under 4 Ghz without going over 65° then id say its a fairly good performer. ( Spec In Sig )

I ran an 805 at higher voltage and speed on my freezer 7 pro and it was about the same temp :p

If I was spending that much I would either get the Tuniq, Scythe Infinity or Thermalright Ultra 120. One thing the zalman does have going for it is that it looks great.
