So ive got my mobo sorted - A gigabyte DS4.

Which would be the best chip to pair it with - an E6300 or E4300.

Obviously i will be overclocking and have DDR2 800 RAM so should be able to get to 400 FSB easily enough.

Well i ended up going for the 6300

Straight in at 400FSB to give 2.8Ghz, stable on stock volts. Very happy so far. Now to try for 3Ghz :)

forgive me for asking but im a noob.
i thought you had to gradually go to 400FSB or is it safe just to go there straight away?
what settings did you use to get to 400FSB?

thanks

Well yes usually you should do it gradually, but i knew this board was capable of 400FSB and id have been very suprised if the CPU couldnt do 2.8Ghz. Plus having DDR2 800 RAM means the RAM isnt overclocked at all yet.
