Hello guys and girls,
I have managed to get my hands on a computer that was destined for the auditors and the great stock pile in the sky. I am now in the process of upgrading so that I can work and game from home. I am a student so will have to take this into consideration with cost but saying that I am patient to wait and save if needbe.

The first thing to address I think is the cpu. The motherboard is a 945G – M4 and the cpu socket is LGA 775.

What I am trying to achieve is a machine that can run.
• 3d Max
• Adobe Web Premium / Creative Suite
• Three screen set up
• MS Visual Studio
• Virtual Server for php/mysql
• .net framework
• Games (not the latest shoot me ups I like flight simulators

I know that the LGA 775 socket can accept the following:

• Pent 4 Extreme edition (3.2 - 3.73) (emergency release to challenge AMD?)
• Pent D (2.66 – 3.6) (prone to overheat?)
• Dual Core (1.4 3.33)
• 2 duo (1.6 – 3.33)
• 2 extreme (2.66 – 3.33)
• Core 2 quad (2.33 – 3)

I would guess that the core 2 quad would be able to run all that I have listed.

Core 2 quad 2.5ghz £98.00
as above 2.83ghz £197.00
as above 2.66ghz £104.00

£71 new and boxed e6600 on a well know auction site. I take that back closer to £50.00 new that does not sound too bad at all
