which cpu im stuck...

Guys ive been caught in an upgrade struggle reading to many threads and searching all over.

I currently have a manchester core amd64 3500+ cpu
I cant find anywhere on the net where its been overclocked.

I was going for a 144 opteron then i was going to 170 then x2 3800 then 4200 now im going to 4800 i mean jesus i need to stop.

i think the nice price of x2 3800 and 4200 are quite a nice upgrade but again im confused over 2.0 and 2.2ghz as im running 2.2 now on 3500+. I get the dual core bit its too cores but will it out peform my 3500+ in all aspects.

I love quake 4 and theres a dual core patch. Just wondering if the dual core patched games will be faster?

right read a review on the new patch using dual core. by enabling smp1 they saw a gain of between 30 to 60%. so by getting just a 3800+ im going to see a differance again this boost goes to what res you run the games.

and again going by past years of quake patches will always come out and better dual core optimizations.

They compared 3800 x2 to 4800 x2 with smp1 enabled. there isnt anything in them.

so im going for the cheapest option and then going to overclock it.
