better for what use?
Doesn't really matter in this case.
The Intel's better clock for clock, has HT and clocks further.
It's just better in every level.
The fastest of the lot is the i3 550
So it's a waste of a upgrade from AMD II X2 545 to Intel i3 550 as the performances are the same?Oh, if you've already got the AMD X2 525, keep it, it wouldn't be worth the upgrade, unless it was free.
If your X2 unlocks to an X4 stable, then they really compete with each other.
In processor intensive things, you'd expect the X4 to outpace the i3.
But it's really a toss up.
This is as equal as I can get it ;

So should I spend £70-80 on the Intel i3 550 or just keep the AMD II X2 545 and try unlock it?The performance of the AMD II X2 545 and the i3 are no where near the same, however, the the X2 unlocked is pretty on par with the i3.
It's a very strange upgrade tbh, the 1156 platform is EOL.
