I know it may be pretty obvious which one is better, but im still confused ;P Since they're both quad cores and the bulldozer can support up to 1866MHz DDR3 while the Phenom can only support 1333 DDR3.

I'm a noob. Forgive me.

What do you want to use the PC for?

I want to use the computer for gaming. If it helps, here are the other things Im going to include in my computer:

OcUK ATI Radeon HD 6850 1024MB GDDR5

Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 AMD 880G (AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W '80 Plus' Power Supply

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

I have already purchased a 1Tb, 7200RPM hard drive with 64MB cache or something also :)

I have taken your advice into consideration and I have found this motherboard and processor for a similar price.

Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

Asus P8H61 PLUS Intel H61 Chipset (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Would this be better for gaming than the AMD system?

Hmm, so it will perform better with things like recording with FRAPS? I know more RAM is probably needed then but still... :)

All i want is a quick PC, that can run new games such as Battlefield 3 on med-high settings at 60fps or above :)

Thanks for all the help :)

Im leaning towards an intel system now, however, it depends on how much cash I have after christmas and what the prices of stuff are then ;P

If anyone reading this could please confirm stuff, would be great ;D

If you opt for Intel and want to overclock, then you would be best off with a 2500K. It's more expensive than your original AMD options, but it has an unlocked multiplier (which most current Intel processors don't have), and almost all overclocking on the socket 1155 platform is done through the multiplier. All the other unlocked Intel chips are more expensive (and the 2500K is generally what is recommended for gaming)

Also, to be able to overclock you will need a P67 or Z68 motherboard. H67 (and, I believe, H61) supports the CPUs integrated graphics but doesn't have overclocking support. Z68 has both.

Of course, if you want to just build the system and use it with no tweaking, there will be better options for you. I don't know as much about lower end chips at the moment so can't comment there :D

Thanks for posting.

I'm not really bothered about overclocking, tweaking or whatever right now :) I'm on a budget of around £430 and I already have a case sorted out and a pretty decent hard drive.

I will ofc get a final opinion on everything in the general hardware section before I go and order :) I was looking at videos of people using the same Intel i3 processor I would like to get, with lower ghz and slightly lower graphics, and they are managing to play crysis 2 on high settings and record it with fraps, while still getting 40 Fps on average :)

Not sure if I'm allowed to share links here, so I'll direct you in the right place of the videos if you want to see for yourself :) Go on to...
