Im ready to build, i just want to know what is the right CPU for me, keeping in mind Ivy bridge is possibly a month or two away.

What i will do on this new PC:
  1. Run Windows 7 for gaming and for running some financial trading applications - nothing too intensive with the latter.
  2. I will want to overclock.
  3. I will want to either run Mac OSX in a virtual machine alongside WIN7 or as a dual boot ********.
  4. Same as number 3 but maybe vice versa.

At the moment im thinking core i5 2500k along with Gigabyte mobo (for ****** ease).
Any indications as to how much of an performance improvement the Ivy B version of the above has?
Budget for CPU - ideally to keep it below £200 but can go more if its really necessary.

Thank you.

2500K is fastest ATM (could go 2550K but miss out on quicksync). IB equivalent should be max 10% faster. Hackintosh isn't allowed on these forums so might want to edit that out.

Thanks for the heads up on the violation.
I was keen on quick sync but have decided to give it a miss and let the CUDA cores do any video stuff i may have to do.

Any idea on Ivy B price point in relation to the 2550k so i can try and work if the extra maybe 10% will be worth it?

Nothings been confirmed yet but I think the general consensus is IB will be roughly the same price is SB.
