Hi guys,

Current system: (used for gaming and usual stuff)

  • Athlon X2 4400
  • 1.5 Gb's DDR
  • KN1 SLi lite mobo
  • Sapphire 4870 1024
  • PSU I've forgotten but its 600W and bloody heavy!

Obviously the glaring weakness is the CPU /mobo (939) which I am looking to replace along with 4Gb's of DDR2. I've always preferred AMD and I am a student on a very tight budget so the brand suits me fine :)

Problem is I've heard how well the 8400's overclock which has got me considering Intel.

But then I'm thinking the three cores are much more likely to outlast the dual core in the future.

What would you guys suggest?

Thankyou.

As near to £200 as possible. Was thinking this:

Just one last thing if I may guys...

Did a search on the motherboard I've bought - Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 - from what I've read, it ships with the F5I bios listed on the Gigabyte site so it supports AM3 chips out of the box? Could anyone confirm this?

Have you considered the left wing Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3, they offer great performance at an even lower price. Having a huge uptake of these with the 720 chip on orders placed with us.

It still uses DDR2 memory with support for the fastest speeds and they post instantly with the AM3 chips.
