which CPU should i buy?

got a S939 DFI board and some geil value ram good for 225mhz. also got a venice 3000 running at 2.7ghz.

fancy a dual core but which one to go for? money is tight but i want one thats quicker than mine is now...
lot to ask i know but would an opteron be what im looking for?

opty 165 or 170 should be ok.

the opterons would be the way forward for u, either the 165 or 170 should do well, and if the money wasnt tight i would have suggested the 175 which should be well easy to get up to high clocks.

I love my 165 gives me better performance than a fx60 at only a fraction of the cost.

165 or 170 will do fine. You will be more likely to hit 2.7 with the 170 than the 165 (although some 165's go past 2.7 with relative ease). Especially as you have value ram as the 170's have a higher multiplier (x10) which means you wont need as higher FSB to hit 2.7 as a 165.

But he could always run the memory on a divider and shouldnt be too big a problem as long as the board holds out at the higher fsb and htt.

I had my 165 at 2.8 last night no problem once I played with my memory timings.. im going to get some better ram soon and see if I can get 3gig
