Which CPU to go for?

• I am looking to build a new pc
• could do with some advice regarding CPU's
• I currently have an Intel E5200 2.5Ghz
• I want the best bang for buck
• I use my PC for web design and general use (mainly web design though), so Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.
• Not sure whether I'll overclock to be honest
• I just want the fasted computer I can afford
• hopefully it'll last me a few years

have you got an overall budget please? . . . at the moment you seem to be very focused on the CPU . . . once you decide what is a comfortable "total" budget for your new build and what is a "stretch" money wise you may find the decision making process easier . . . . from what you have said I don't see that your requirements are particulary high?

What is the most demanding application you use? . . or what process do you perform where you think "Oh this PC is slow"? . . . if you list the specs of your current hardware we may be able to get you on your way and leave a lot of that cash £££ burning away in your pocket!
