I'm looking to upgrade (old parts for my daughters PC), I've just purchased a 3080ti, I game at 1440 144hz. I figured now is a good time to go DDR5
I'm swaying towards a 13600k with Z790 or Z690? I believe the AMD equivalent is 7600x? How does that compare?
Obviously cheaper is better, but I'd pay a bit more if it's better?

Yeah that makes sense, but I just figured if I'm going to upgrade everything, I may as well go for the latest up to date stuff with DDR5

Personally I would leave DDR5 to those that want to get the very best CPU benchmark scores with top of the line CPUs.
I did look into it, but settled with re-using the 64GB DDR4 3600MHz that I had from the previous system with an i7-13700K: the objective was to get a "balanced" system within budget.
