Building a cheap rig, will be used for gaming with a 7600GT or 7900GS depending on my budget. Which CPU should i get?

An single core 3800+ or a dual core 3800+?

Its to go in an Asus AH2 barebone system so im not sure its gonna overclock to well anyway so is the extra 400Mhz of the single core better or is the extra core better?

I would say it depends entirely on what you're going to be using it for. If you can come up with something that justifies a dual core then go for that, otherwise a single core CPU is all you really need.

If your going to upgrade your whole system (motherboard/cpu/mem/gpu) then I would go for the following, it's a hell of a lot more future proof and the E6300 will beat the pants off the 3800+, also that bare bones system only comes with a 300 watt psu, tbh I would'nt want trust that running a 3800+ with a 7900GS.

edit - I've just noticed you sold a half decent c2d rig early november, I take it this is'nt for you then ?

No, i just want something dirt cheap i can game on. I had a very good C2D system before but was pretty skint at the time so it had to go
