Which cpu is the best for Photoshop CS 5 & Microsoft word 2010

Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz overclocked to 3.80GHz
i3 550 3.20GHz @ 4.20GHz DDR3 System

my money is on the quad core 760 cpu

would be hard to say without knowing what the ram is clocked to and a few other factors. if it was clock for clock then the i5 should win

and how much cache have they both got?

the Exodus, if this pc is also needed for gaming, then select a decent gpu, if its just for the stuff in the first post, then its fine.

quad core is also better for video editing too.
