Hi there
Have been waiting to get a new bulldozer 8150 but after seeing reviews decided against, i use my computer for mainly gaming.
can some one answer these questions please.
Is it worth getting a 2600k or waiting till november for the 6 core intel ones.
or will they be a lot of money?
If i go for a 2600k whats the best gaming motherboard to go for and what memory and cooler? i have around 500 pound to spend?
Will the new sandy e be much better at gaming than 2600k.
i am using a phenom 2 x4 955be crosshair 3 ati 6990 gpu at the moment, will the 2600k be a lot better?
just seen eveyones put the prices up for the 2600k around 15 pound
Thanks

Maka

Personally, for your usage (gaming), i would be looking at the 2500K and put the extra money saved towards a better gfx card or even SLi.

There is little to no benefit in having the 2600K for gaming as only a small minority of games use HT - they're only just starting to adopt 4 cores on mass.

Having said that if mony isn't an issue get the 2600K - as sometimes it's nice to buy what you want rather than what you need.

thanks for reply plec
how can i get a better graphics card than ati 6990? thought it was best, 7000 aint out yet?
WHAT MOTHERBOARD WOULD YOU GO? ASUS P8Z68-V PRO?
THANKS

I was on auot pilot with that reply - i was pushing the point that you could spend the money saved on something else.

With the socket 1155 boards i pick a quality brand (MSI, ASUS, Gigagbyte) and then select a MB that accomodates my/friends immedaite needs and 'possible' future needs and no more as they will all clock the 2500K very well.

The Asus V Pro is an excellent board but if money is an issue, and the lesser models have all the features that you need, you could save some money. And MSI offer a lot of MB features for the money...

Gigabyte are also worth considering as they are UK based which is a bonus once you've passed the 1 year guarantee with the retailer (plus Asus have a hopeless after sales service).

EDIT: What i should have asked is what would you ideally like to spend and what features do you need (how many sata ports, fireiwre, 7.1 etc)?
