I'm looking for some reasonable quality decks for some beginner mixing of metal and dubstep

One of my mates has some portable ones that are ok, I tihnk they are hercules or something that cost about £70. Can some get small versions of pioneer cdj's for about £150 - £200?

I will be mixing the likes of linkin park, tek one, emmure, rusko, skream and caspa if this helps

Dont mind buying second hand

If you're going for turntables/time code vinyl anything cheap with direct drive will be good to begin with. But I would probably go with a digital controller instead so you can use MP3s. It's not so much of an expenditure than if you went actual decks and time code vinyl.

I have owned a pair of Pioneer CDJ200's and a pair of CDJ800MK2's (More expensive), the 200's were a good learner for me :)

The Pioneer stuff does look better quality than Numark...but the 200s are about £500 for a pair at a quick look. Ill have a go with 'Tap dj' on my iphone first as it cost 59p :p

The Numark axis 9 lok very basic with not much 'stuff' on

Search about for a 2nd hand pair of Technic 1210's & accept nothing else.

pioneer is the industry standard now after technics dominated the industry with the 1210s for 30 years, when technics released their first cdj it looked awesome but was a very poor cdj by todays standards, vestax, denon, numark etc are allways playing catch up,but offer some very good alternatives to the higher spec that pioneer do.;)

If you need turntables, nothing but technics 1210's will do

Also, if you want CD turntables then Pioneer CDJ's IMO are the only ones to go for

If you are going digital I wuld advise the Traktor Kontrol S4, everything you need in one box

If you are interested I am going to be selling a Pioneer DJM 600 mixer and CDJ 800

Really depends on the features you want to use.
I've done the 1210's, moved to cdj100's then onto digital with traktor and ableton.
The cdj100's were a great intro away from vinyl but have a 0.1 flutter so you need to keep an eye on the bpm's drifting.
Traktor and a digital controller is the way or ableton and a midi controller.
For digital i'd describe it as traktor = instant, ableton = rewarding.
Ableton needs a lot of warping and takes a while to get your head around but the results are awesome!
Traktor is amazing, you can start with decks and cdj's and go timecoded at a later date if you want to go digital but want to stay fully hands on.
