the 350d is a much better choice and can be picked up under budget on ebay from an official refurb seller (Just got one at £300.63 with kit lens) :D

Sounds good but i prefer to have thing like that brandnew. I have had bad experience from refurbs. :(

I dont care if anyone says the Nikon D40 produce better JPEG out of the camera but it is not enough to get DSLR camera that won't grow on you as you get better.
for this reason go for Canon 20D (if you can find new stock) or Nikon D70s.

Both cracking camera and can be had less then the Nikon 40D/x. Just think of what you gonna be shooting and which type of lenses you need. Generally Canon have better wider range of lenses between the 10-200mm range.

or

Just get Canon G7.

Yeah, that's why I chose Canon over a Nikon, also because I used to only use Canon P& S cameras so was used to them.

Best thing to do is to go down to your local high street camera shop, and have a hold of different DSLR's to see what you think is best. It's down to personal choice really. Some people chose the D40 over the 400d because the 400d is quite small compared to other DSLR's, but it personally doesn't bother me. (just stick on a battery grip like I have and it's more comfortable)

oh and another thing about the Nikon D40 is you can only use DX (digital) range of lenses, which means you can't use Nikon owns non dx lenses and third party lenses.

Actually you can use any Nikon AF-S lens, and any Sigma HSM lens. Other lens will work with the d40, although you will only have manual focus.

another option is the 400d and kit lens which can be picked up for £399.99 online as i have just read and checked on, so the 350d is cancelled and the 400d is on its way. (plus you get £50 cashback via canon rebate)

Just looked in your Prague gallery, so of those machines from the museum are horrible!

Its not like there's a shortage of af-s/hsm lens... it just means you won't be able to get any cheap old bargain lens

No I mean it might be hard for a noob to use manual focus.

Please don't post absolute tripe like this when you plainly have no idea what you are talking about, it helps no one. :)

we came across the Museum quite by accident while wandering around the back streets.

Was a really interesting place, quite a bit of history without appearing tacky. was great fun watching an old couple looking at the bondage stuff and giggle to themselve as if to say "Got one of those at home!!"#

Yo do realise that everyone will wonder what you were on about now and go have a look see for themselves!

There a lot of photos of the other sites in prague, just the order i uploaded them means they are at the front of the pile (Can you re-arange the order in flickr??)

I spoke with the lecturer of photography at my work place and he recommended the following - Canon 400D or the Nikkon D80 (i think the last one is out of my price range)

Yep, click on the organize tab at the top, open the set, then rearrange the photos.
