Which DJ controller?

I'm so confused. I want a really good DJ controller, mainly for use indoors but also occasionally in pubs when I help my dad out with his karaoke business. Sometimes he is asked to DJ rather than do karaoke and he is not the best at that so I help him out.

Anyway, I currently use an old Behringer jobbie that's really rather rubbish, so it's time for an upgrade.

I have kind of narrowed my choice down to three controllers. Wondering if you could help me make a choice or recommend any alternatives.

The three I have narrowed it down to are the Numark NVII, the Pioneer DDJ-SX2 or the Numark NS7 III. I like the screens and the price on the first Numark. The Pioneer just seems an awesome mixer all round, and while the last Numark is expensive, the spinning platters look fantastic. Make it seem like old style turntable mixing. Anyone got any ideas?

Well, I'd go with the Pioneer, quality kit through and through.

Way better than my Hercules, but then it only cost me £120 and does the job just fine.

Go for the Pioneer, it is the superior product out of the selection plus it comes with Rekordbox to manage your music.

I bought cheap when I first got into DJ'ing both with turntables and CD players and I have always regretted it. I still spent a small fortune but would rather have spent a little bit more for the Technics or Pioneers. I'm currently looking at the DDJ-RZ, just need to convince the wife how badly we need it.

That Rekordbox software is brilliant. Can't believe its free.

I'll have to do some reading but is the work you do in rekordbox (cue points etc) importable into serato?

I've used the pioneer and it is very nice if you want serato. Question is do you really want to spend that much and do you want to go with serato?

I just bought a Traktor Kontrol S2 as a backup to my main gear and I am very impressed with the quality vs price

For reference: main gear is TT's and Kontrol Z2 but I also own a Reloop Beatmix 4 serato controller. Each software has its strengths. Serato is a little better when mixing stuff with irregular beats due to the waveform view but not worth the premium for the mixers when using DVS. Traktor is far better for controllers in my opinion and especially if you are into electronic music.

Thanks, but I've already bought the Pioneer. It is very nice and Serato seems fine so far. Will probably try rekordbox as well. That's even more customised for the DDJ controllers.
