right, i have a budget of around £200 +-£30, and want to know which is the best monitor i can get for that money,

Just looking around,

Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Samsung P2350 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Dell G2410 24" Widescreen LED Monitor

Samsung P2370 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Samsung SM2343BW 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Samsung P2250 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

OcUK Value 619Fh 26" Widescreen LCD Monitor

I hope someone can give me some idea as to which they would reccommend, it would be much appreciated,

Thanks
James

I've heard that Dell monitors are very good. You might want to look into the differences of LED/LCD. Also, have a look at the Hanns G 28" monitor, "HG281D". If you "look" around, you can get it for under £250, but if you want the security of overclockers, buy from them :p ;)

what would it be used for?
If its casual gaming, watching movies, graphics and day to day browsing and not too many multitasking.. then I'd probably recommend the Dell 2209WA

see i wasnt to sure about the dell, reading the spec, it seems to be the lower of the three, i was thinking perhaps the Samsung may be £5 more, but looking at the spec ???

Samsung P2350
- Resolution: 1920x1080
- Contrast Ratio: 50000:1
- Brightness: 300cd/m²
- Response Time: 2ms

Dell 2209WA
- Resolution: 1680x1050
- Contrast Ratio: 3000:1
- Brightness: 300cd/m²
- Response Time: 6ms

you can't judge monitors by specs.. the Dell 2407WFP has 1000:1 contrast ratio, and its still considered to be one of the best monitors you can get.

The Dell 2209WA uses e-IPS panel.. better colours - all colours appear as they should, almost no backlight bleed, as its fitted with a premium panel (judging by my experience of owning monitors with premium panel and reviews I've read.), better viewing angles (the thing I love the most about these types of panel, they're the best for movies and you can watch whilst you're laid down in bed).

its a really tough decision, the samsung looks better, but i do see your point about the e-ips and that, i do a lot of graphics editing, so true colours are always good, also a gamer, but reading the dells reviews, it does seem faultless.

i think it might have to be the dell :P ?

depends on its primary usage really... as I said, if you only do casual gaming and need good viewing angles, more accurate and vibrant colours more than anything else.. then It does warrant the price of buying and keeping a monitor with a premium panel.

I'd firstly echo the point about getting the HannsG - save the cash, 28" is a lot bigger. but otherwise, the Dell is probably the right one for you.

Dell 24" from the list you wrote, I'd aim for a 24" regardless of the make - hang on..if some of the other ones like the 23" can run at 1920 x 1200 then all well and good.
