Ive looked on lots of case modding websites and they all say about using a dremel (to cut a hole in a case for a window/fan hole) any idea which dremel? just been on there site and theres HUNDREDS of drills -_- I havnt found ONE that says it cuts through metel or steel :( any one got one?

Any dremel will cut through sheet metal, it's more down to which cutting discs you buy. Just make sure you get the "reinforced cut-off wheels".

I hear the rechargeables are rather worse than the corded types.

Wouldn't know for sure, I've a corded Dremel, used it to carve up a lot of copper pipe and fittings in unusual ways (copper dust nuked my first dremels speed selector I'm sure), some steel (bike chain, some small rod). Came in handy for modding my ITX case to trim some of the steel sheet. Trick was how to hold the small pieces while cutting them.

i bought one from map***'* and it was a copy and so bad i would never go back to anything but dremel
i find if you get it form pieces from builders shops they can be cheaper though so look around as some pieces if wanted are really quite exspensive

To cut fan holes just use a drill with a holesaw. Use a jigsaw for windows.

If you must use a Dremel make sure you use the right sized cutoff wheel for the job, thick metal will require you to dip the wheel into the cut lower and lower and scar outside the area you actually want to cut.

I got my Dremel for 40 quid in B&Q with some extras. I bought some extras for it including the speedclic and multichuck. As people have said buy the drill first then find some cutoff wheels which are suited for the metal you want to work with. If cutting aluminum you should use a slow speed (lowest setting) and lubricant as it will melt and coat the edge of the wheel. If cutting steel use a higher setting.
