Which Energy Effecient AM3/AM3+ CPU for HEVC/H.265 & HTPC

I've got a gigabyte 970A-DS3 motherboard in the htpc and i have a lot of movies encoded in HEVC H.265 for which i use kodi. As i understand it, it's quite cpu intensive when playing this codec, so which would be the best cpu for energy efficiency but still able to play a few games. Ideally the games i play will be maxing out the AMD 5870 gpu, but the cpu will be able to handle it pretty well too.
 
Why not get a GPU capable of doing HEVC hardware acceleration? There aren't many but depending on the content, even modern Intel CPUs will struggle with HEVC at high resolutions.
