Which F1 race to attend?

Depends how long you want to stay for - whole weekend (Fri-Sun) or just Race day? Are you factoring in accommodation as well?

Your post screams of Spa though - imo the best track in Europe, and probably my favourite in the world too.

It's just a brilliant rollercoaster of a track steeped in history, in a beautiful forest with unpredictable weather - in essence it ticks all the boxes a racing fan could ever want.

As well as that it's really cheap - decent beer and local food are cheap as well as ticket prices.

For £500 (if you're thinking whole weekend and general admission with camping as accommodation then you should be ok)... but let us know exactly what you're after for a better idea.

I think I'd like to make a weekend of it.

Here are my thoughts so far:
Silverstone - Cheapest 'weekend out' overall but the ticket prices are poor and the weather is questionable.
Turkey - Heard it is cheaper to fly there, watch F1, fly home than it is to go to Silverstone. No 2014 race.
Spanish - Don't know much about it.
Austrian - Don't know much about it.
German - Don't know much about it.
Belgian - Awesome track. Could be driven to.
Russian - Is in Sochi, so as close as Russia gets to the UK.
Italian - Love to one day, but way out my price range.

I did Spa this year, stayed in a Center Parcs style place maybe half an hour from the circuit. Great little part of the world, and it's totally possible to go general admission and actually see something worthwhile. Great atmosphere. If you like cheese and beer then it's perfect.

Plus you can stop off in Bruges for lunch on the way over.

Edit: I remembered the name - Sunparks Ardennen. Cheap and cheerful. Got the track parking that puts you just outside Stavelot to avoid having to drive around the circuit from where we were staying. 6 of us went in total, 4 went to the race. Took two cars. The fuel, ferries, accommodation, food and weekend tickets came to £360 per person.

Cheapest is Spa for Sat and Sun. Drive there Friday, Formule 1 hotel or tent for Fri and Sat night, then drive back Sunday night into Monday morning. It will drain you, especially with only 2 of you.

A Silverstone grandstand will be a far more civilised option. Maybe stay within 30 miles or so where hotel prices are cheaper?

I'm doing Spain this year and it would be a push for your budget. You really need an option that means you can drive there and stay cheaply. How far from home to Silverstone? I've driven up and back for all 3 days from 100 miles away before.

There are economies of scale with Spa, as you can split the ferry and fuel thinner if more people go. I've prob done it for £250pp before, with 5 people in a car.

We did Monaco last year - flew in Saturday, stayed in Nice, watched the race and flew out Sunday. If you just want the race then easily doable under £500 if you're flexible on accommodation and use public transport.

Doesn't going to Monaco for only the race defeat the purpose of the whole thing? It's not exactly thrilling viewing.
