Hey all

At the moment i have a Thermaltake Volcano 11 cooling my Athlon XP 3200.

Temperatures are around 45-50.

The current fan is an 80mm 75cfm smart fan, that reaches 48dB.

To me this is kinda loud, so i'm looking for a replacement fan, that has the same features as my current one, but keeping the noise level down!

Anyone got any ideas? I've take a quick browse but feel that most of the fans wont push enough air.

Thanks :)

80-120mm adapter and use something like a thermaltake thunderblade or the silentcat ones. Not that quite but certainly not 48db!

I've been told that using an adaptor just squashes the air, and it will still have the same ammount of airflow as a normal 80mm fan because the air still has to go through the same area size?

Also i'd have to get a curved fan adaptor as i dont think it would fit straight on

Don't get a thunderblade unless you have it on a fan controller. I have three of the damn things. Two are 7v modded and the other is on a controller. TT reckons they are 21DB but it does'nt say how many miles away they took the measurement. Another overclocking forum recently did a test on some and came up with the following results at 1 meter:-

12v.......76 cfm.......40.5 db
7v........50 cfm........31.5 db
5v........36.5 cfm......28.5 db.

As you can see they are very noisy. Good airflow though.

Ok, i think i know which fan to get. But could someone tell me if these curved fan adaptors actually excist? I'm not 100% sure if a normal adaptor + 120mm fan would fit.

Thanks :)
