Just about to buy a Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme (sadly not from here as they don't stock it :(), but I was wondering which fan(s) you recommend to go with it.
Sorry for the noob question now but why have I seen some people mount the fans facing different directions? I.e some face the front of the case and some face the rear.

EDIT: Also is it going to make a lot of difference to my Artic Freezer 7 Pro? At the moment it needs lapping as tehre is a 12degree difference between cores idle and load. But its noisy as hell!

I found that the temps were ok with an ac7 pro but like you said it was noisy! 12 degree difference isnt that bad (or do you mean between cores 1-4)! My current cooler goes from 35-60! For noise v efficincy the Noctuas are v good. In terms of orienting it in your case it depends on your air flow. I have my noctua cooler pointing upwards where as some people might have them pointing the back.

yeah the temperatures aren't too bad. But I wanted to go higher with my clock and they get too high then. Yes I mean between cores 1-4 haha. This is why it needs lapping haha. So do you have a noctua heatsink or a true with noctua fans?

noctua stuff is the bomb it seems.
worth your hard earned cash definately!
Im on a zlaman 9500 but when i go i7, ill go for the noctua with push/pussh fans (even though its the best part of £60!)

No noctua heatsink is going to take a q6600 to 4.3ghz mind

The TRUE remains very good. My q9550 runs into voltage problems long before temperature ones. I use a scythe s-flex 1600rpm with it. it's pretty unlikely you need two fans, adding a second is good for at most a couple of degrees. With one fan pushing air into the true, then a small gap, then a case exhaust fan you'll be well happy :)

The TRUE will get you the best temps on a Quad no argument.. You will needs some 1/2 decent fans to get the most of it when your CPU is at full load... I would suggest 1600 RPM fans in push-pull as a minimum you can also speed control these when you don't need the extra umph.

Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 are very nice and relatively quiet at full tilt, although they seem to be sold out across the whole of Europe at the mo!!!
