I've wanted to give some Far Cry games a try for a long time now, so I finally decided to do so.
My question is: which game do you recomend me to play first that will encourage me to the series?
I've heard that Far Cry 3 is one of the best games ever made. Should i start with this one?

I'm biased. For me, the best one I've played will always be the first, no other that I've tried comes close.

However, a newer player to the series will probably prefer the more recent games - as is often the way.

FC3 does get a lot of praise and is one that I enjoyed, though I didn't finish it.

FC3 Blood Dragon is also excellent!

For me I absolutely loved the original when it came out in 2004. Its still a decent shooter to play even now. Farcry 3 is overall probably my favourite. The setting is great, nothing like sneaking up in a check point only to be attacked by a tiger that you didn't spot. Or casually hiking up a hill to bump into a komodo dragon who is looking for its next meal. I would also recommend farcry primal for a different take on the farcry series.

I loved FC4 (apart from the dream sequence stuff they put into all FCs, it seems) but actually enjoyed New Dawn (FC5 standalon expansion) the most, but you might need to play FC5 first to avoid storyline spoilers.

Avoid FC6 at all costs, IMHO!

Except for Far Cry 2, which I played through twice, I lost interest in the others after a few hours. FC3 had me interested for a little while longer, but still I soon called it quits.

I loved 5 recently, and New Dawn.

3 was amazing at the time but feels difficult to recommend now without you already being invested in the series. I haven't played 4 or 6 yet.

1 was excellent, easily the best but old now and Crysis built on a lot of its strengths (until the aliens showed up and ruined it for me)

2 was tragic imo. People either love it or hate it and I'm one of the ones that hate it

3 was very good, it hasn't aged as well as you'd hope though so depends how you find playing older games

4 I never got around to playing but I do have it so will probably play it at some point

5 I found really good, but that was at a time I wasn't able to game very much so something quicker and more simple suited me. I can understand peoples criticisms and feel I probably wouldn't have found it that great if I had more time to game

5 New Dawn I've still not plated

6 Not played either because I want to play New Dawn first

Never actually finished last 20 or so percent of first Far Cry but loved it, probably hasn't aged well now to justify replaying it.

Far Cry 1 and Crysis are just tech demos disguised as video games.

They became actual video games with their second entries, PC elitism and fanboying though made them bawk at later entries.
FC2 was top tier trash too though. Great ideas that don't translate to making a good game.

I have played through FC1 on PC in 2008, played it's console spin s too, Instincts and instincts predator.
