Which file format (360)?

Right currently have a few mpg files which i need changing to something a bit smaller currently;

704x576, 25,000000 fps
2 channels, 44100Hz

Currently it uses 2.6gb an hour so what file can I use that wont loose any more quality but be smaller. Also (well mainly) I would like it to play on my 360

Also any tips on what software to use?

One last question for widescreen SDTV should it be 704, 720 or 768 x 576?

Windows Movie Maker?
It should take the MPG and allow you to convert it to a WMV.

There is a freeware tool that does the job, specifically for use with the 360. Think it was only just recently updated too.

Can't for the life of me remember the name of it though :/

H.264 MP4 is what you want.
