Which Floorstanders?

... for £250

Is something like Tannoy Sensys 2 or Mordaunt Short 914i any good? They will be attached to a NAD C320BEE amp and replacing my Tannoy Mercury speakers from the mid '80s

Before you jump in with both feat, go have a listen to a few options and if you find one you prefer, make sure that you compare with the Mercurys that you have. The Mercurys were class leading in their day and cost around £120 back then. Add inflation that they're a similar price to what you're talking about.

They only have Maple ones at £300 now, I think they used to stock the 'apple' at £250.

For that budget, I'd be looking at standmounts. You won't get anything reaching "good" floostanders for £250

Don't get cheap KEF floorstanders- they suck. Really.

Go and listen to a few and get some second hand bookshelves for that kind of money IMO.

Or I could repeat my suggestion !!!! used floor standers are in budget and will be far better than the equipment feeding them !!!

for that budget it's hard to find good floor standers, I'd recommend stand mounts and even then then the best I can do is the Quad 11L2's @ £379
