Hello, I've been reading the reviews and forum posts about the 6400 range. However, I'm just wondering which 6400 pair to get for myself. I will be gaming on a few selected games, such as BF2142 etc, but I also do a lot of video editing etc. So basically I want memory which suites both of my computing needs.

Here is my current system:

AMD SD 3700+
ATI x800 GTO2 (Overclocked to x850)
WD 320gb SATA
ATI Sapphire Crossfire MoBo
512 standard RAM
Thanks to any responses.

Its not the cheapest but I love my G.Skill 6400 HZ - unfortunatly not only is it not in stock at OCuk atm its gone up £40.

Just to say that I think that you need to be careful to ensure that you go for memory suited to Athlons rather than Conroe, since the relative performance of memory for each is very different.

As a rough rule of thumb, Conroe's work well will relatively relaxed timings where the memory is overclocked. AMDs (due to the memory controller) really need the memory running with a 1T or 2T at worst command rate.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can spell it out in greater detail - alternatively, there was a good article recently in Custom PC debating the relative merits of each memory and benching them.

nope, socket 939 memory controllers are ddr1 only. for a start, they won't fit, as DDR2 is 240 pins, whereas DDR1 is 184 pins. Thats before you take into account the actual physical differences between them.

you get G.Skill HZ ram in DDR1 form which will fit in your system. Drop me an email or Msn me...I will send you some info...my details are in trust

I'd go for the gskill ZX ddr 2gb kit if i were you, 2,3,2,5 timings iirc, ocuk dont seem to stock them anymore though.
