Which games work perfect with Nvidia 8800's regardless of which driver?

As per topic, I just want to know as this will decide whether I purchase an Nvidia 8800 GTX.

What I will do is mark a tick against each game that is mentioned, any game over the last 2 years will suffice.

Basically any game you have played or still play that works 100% with no crashes, no graphical glitches, no reboots when loading levels.

Nvidia 8800 Series - Game Compatability.

I know you asked in regards to the 8800GTX, but the 8800GTS uses the same drivers so...

Games I have played lately that work perfectly: -
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
First Encounter Assault Recon
Call Of Duty 2
Half Life 2
Battlefield 2
Black & White 2
Flight Simulator 2004
Supreme Commander
City Of Heroes/Villains
Civlization IV

Games I have played lately that have minor issues: -
The Sims 2 (visual artifacts)
Battlefield 2142 (performance/crashing issues)

Games I have played lately that have major issues: -
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow Of Chernobyl (performance/crashing issues)

Note: Issues may or may not be driver related, could be crappy coding.

I've had no real problems, anything I've missed must be so minor as to not affect gameplay at all:

Medieval 2 Total War (Source Engine)
Dark Messiah (Source Engine)
Civ 4
Armed Assault (Though performance is hardly amazing)
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
X3 Reunion

Driver: 158.22

That's about all I've played since I've got my 8800GTS.

I'm interested in this aswell (guess why? :p ).

Any details on the crashing/performance issues in STALKER? Is it just errors and CTDs or BSODs and hard crashes? Same with BF2142?

What about BF2? Same engine as BF2142.

I get horrible performance in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and plenty of crashes to go around, but I'm thinking it's just bad coding as opposed to a driver problem as it's a "The Way It's Meant To Be Played" title now. My crashes were mostly B(lack)SOD and reboot flavoured.

Battlefield 2 runs very nicely for me, couldn't be happier with it, but while Battlefield 2142 is built around the same engine it seems to have niggles with performance and crashing (particularly in Titan mode.)

It is well documented that STALKER does not work well with Vista but I think it's more the fault of the game than the Nvidia drivers.

I have had zero problems with STALKER and XP
 
I had no real problems apart from the aformentioned terrible performance in stalker. It was definately a driver issue, it would start off OK (around 40fps) then collapse into single digit frame rates in some areas. No crashes though.

All the games that ran for me with no problems in xp:

company of heroes
rainbow 6 vegas
need for speed carbon
need for speed most wanted
oblivion (jaw dropping performance too!)
call of duty 2
F.E.A.R.
condemned
G.R.A.W.

Load of demos too.

In fact I haven't had a single crash since I got my gts.

Strange, we have similar systems - since the first official patch I've had zero problems with STALKER/Vista64. In fact, it runs better than my XP install :confused:
 
Stalker is fine for me no issues whatsoever related to game or graphics.
If you are getting an 8800 and run XP the 158.22's are great for me so far, The only issue I have is trying to select settings or profiles in the control panel, then I get an error message, but that may be down to me using nhancer for profiles.

I'm playing it on Windows XP Professional with SP2. :(

I've not had a proper go on v1.3 but v1.0 and v1.1 were nothing but a headache for me, and the performance was completely unacceptable (25-50fps, I expect much more out of such a dated game.)
 
Hey guys this is great, good info etc.

Can you do me a favor. . . post your current drivers with the thread you posted in which works with the games?

What I'm trying to do is see if their is a specific string of problems with certain drivers etc as well.
 
Are you saying that NFS Carbon works 100% because it doesn't. You have to run it in compatibility mode for it to work at all and then it crashes to desktop frequently under Vista.

Call of Juarez is known to have issues with the shadows up until very recently.
 
had to lol @ this thread as I've spent half the day reinstalling and trying different drivers out with my gtx, the problem I have is that I've got about 20 of my fav games installed and no matter which driver I use there is allways a few games that seem to have issues and they are all popular games, I've just finished installing the 160.03 drivers though and fingers crossed everying seems fine so far, definitly the best drivers to date,

I have all of the above games installed on my system and all games appear to be working with 160.03 drivers, I am using a BFG 8800GTX with Intel Badaxe 1 m/b on XP platform, hope that helps anyone deciding on which drivers to go for.

Armed assault is a no no

Tried:
Armed Assault = , a 8800gtx is slower on this game than the last generation of cards , also has some serious fog distance issues and LOD errors ( cars look like lego close up )

Graw , works ok
Company heroes , fine
Rainbow vegas , works ok , but crap game
2 - Half Life 2 / Counterstrike:Source , ocasional crashes
