Hi Guys

I have had a this dilemma for a while now, which is the best 24 TFT for gaming, especially FPS but others types too (Sports, RPG, old skool emulation etc etc)

I have my eye on the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP-HC 24" Widescreen and also the Gateway FPD 2485W-EU but cant find anywhere to purchase it!!!

As much advice as possible welcome please!!

Muchas Grassyarse!

so, the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP-HC 24" Widescreen is the best then?

If I was buying a new LCD to game with, input lag would be a big issue. Check out the lovely new TFT sticky by badass. He's got a graph which shows this model having a slightly higher input lag then other models. You may want to look into something with less input lag, if it's an issue for you.

Hi, I used to be a really diehard CRT fps gamer but these days i just play footy games etc but i'm still not stupid and i know what is and isn't ghosting!. I basically switch between my 21" CRT , samsung 226bw 22" and dell 24" and i must say the 24" was the worst for fps games by a big margin, especially games with a 60fps cap so you can't set the fps to something huge to cut out the tearing.

I'd say if your quite into fps games and you get any of the more expensive non-tn panel 24"'ers you could be really disappointed unless your a "total noob" :p

You basically can't win, you either take your chances on the tn panels that are overdriven for vastly better responses or you get much better colours at the expense of response times. Its fair to say that the dell 24/benq 24" cope with all other types of games extremely well these days but imo theres still huge question marks over first person shooters.

Or you could be really uncool and try to source one of these fw900 24" CRT's :D

Personally i would have a 19" crt £100 one can be had new
and a tft for non fps gaming and everything else who cares what crt's
look like unless you have people in your room critiquing your chunky screen.
You'll get pwnzed and noobed on cs source with a tft.
I definitely think a crt is a must for any serious gamer.

In this day and age, I don't think there's a place for CRT's. They're old technology, you can TFTs with very low response times eliminating the no.1 reason why you'd go for a CRT. TFT's look nicer, produce richer colours and obviously take up a lot less room on your desk.
